Jakarta - The Project, a collaboration between Arsitag and Trans TV, aired one of the INSADA project, House 13 on Sunday July 7, 2019. The Project is one Trans TV’s flagship programs that partners with Arsitag.com. They have a goal to create dream houses through home renovation and visit to unique homes with character to inspire.
We are interested in being involved in a program that always broadcasts ‘karya anak bangsa’ and had the opportunity to explain our project, House 13. Located in a premium area in West Jakarta, the landed house showcases a modernist architectural concept. With a modernist architectural concept, House 13 is a "proof of concept". We applied the same expression usually found in subtropical locations such as LA in Jakarta, and made sure the house performs how as how tropical houses should be.
To fulfill the client’s desire to create a different impression of the house than its surroundings, we applied simple massing that are still unique. The facade design was a response from its surrounding elements. The main facade is made of 'low-e curtain walls' with modules that can be supported on each end made of aluminum extrusion to enhance safety. Sliding glass doors provide an air gap into the room and 'perforated metal' can be used as an insect repellent screen. The three-story house has a skylight that’s equipped with bricks and ventilation for air circulation. With this configuration, first and second floor of the house is constantly cooled passively.
In its interior, we used a process of subtraction on different elements such as AC, door frame, exhaust, handrail, etc. The result is a neutral space that is similar to a museum where objects and individuals become dominant within the space.
